The first chapter on education and Deafness describes the main
educational approaches and explains the evolution from Oralism to Total Communication to Bilingualism. The second explains how SignWriting may be used to attain biliteracy and a full Bilingual education. The third explains reading mechanisms in hearing and Deaf children that help comprehend semantic paragraphias and paralexias committed by Deaf children when dealing with the alphabetic print.
