SignWriting List May 24, 2000 Hello Ron - Thanks for showing SignWriting to Argentinians! It sounds like you had an interesting trip - Argentina must be beautiful.... They are welcome to apply to participate in our SignWriting Literacy Project. It is through our Literacy Project, that we donate SignWriting materials. So tell them to write to me on email, and we can communicate. Generally I can read Spanish, so if they want to write email in Spanish that is fine. Although the donated materials are in ASL and English, they can serve as a foundation. The teachers in Argentina will have the challenging task of developing their own literature and dictionaries in Argentinian Sign Language. But it can be done, and we will help them all we can! Plus teachers in other countries that speak Spanish, such as Spain and Nicaragua, have already developed their own materials in Spanish and their own signed languages. Although those books are not in Argentinian Sign Language, they may still be useful to them. Here is general information about the Project in Spanish... The SignWriting Literacy Project The DAC, Deaf Action Committee For SignWriting P.O.
