Filling-In Dark Areas With Diagonal Strokes
(Handwriting Only)

Diagonal strokes are not used when we type by computer. The dark areas are perfectly filled in by tapping on a certain key on the computer keyboard.

When writing by hand, filling-in a darkened section of a symbol can be time consuming.

Below you will notice that diagonal strokes are used to indicated the dark section of the symbol. It is faster to write than to fill in the symbol completely.

These quick diagonal strokes are written after the symbol is completed, a little like returning to "dot the i" when writing in English. Some people only write one stroke - the number is totally up to the writer.
