SignWriting Video Transcription Today
Twenty five years later, in the year 2000, SignWriting looks
different. It uses less stick figures and is oftentimes written
down the page in vertical columns.
Even though the writing system has evolved, we still transcribe Sign Language videos in SignWriting, using different techniques and modern equipment.
In Figure 2, an example of ASL storytelling by Darline Clark
Gunsauls, was transcribed from video in 1999:
