Sutton Movement Writing is the International Movement Writing Alphabet (the IMWA). It is used to record all human and animal gesture. SymbolBank is a database that stores the IMWA symbols, giving researchers, programmers and students a reference library for symbol names, ID numbers, defintions, and variations. As a database built in FileMaker Pro, it can be accessed in two ways: on the web in an online database or on your desktop, inside SignBank. In SignBank, SymbolBank works to sort sign-dictionaries by Sign-Symbol-Sequence, and is one of ten relational databases working together to provide printing and searching capabilities.
